Purging Crash Data

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) State Safety Office (SSO) will purge 2006 crash data after completing (1) location processing of 2016 data, (2) analyzing crash rates for 2016, and (3) releasing 2016 crash rate analyses. FDOT anticipates finishing these tasks in a few months.
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) purged 2007 crash data from their database. DHSMV is the official custodial agency for crash report data in Florida. They follow a 10-year retention schedule for their database.

FDOT SSO also adopted a 10-year retention schedule. FDOT SSO lags DHSMV in using and processing crash data. As a result, FDOT SSO has 2006 and 2007 in their database.
