Strava Metro Datasets
|The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) State Safety Office (SSO) acquired bicyclist and pedestrian related datasets from Strava Metro (https://metro.strava.com/) for 2012 through 2017. FDOT SSO publishes the datasets through the Unified Basemap Repository (UBR). Data are provided to authorized users through the FDOT UBR.|
|Strava Metro provides shapefiles for the most popular datasets (total, weekday, and weekend) for both run (pedestrian) and ride (bicyclists). According to Strava Metro, millions of people upload their rides and runs to Strava every week via their smartphone or GPS (Global Positioning System) device. Strava Metro anonymizes and aggregates this data.|
All interested parties may access the Strava Metro Global Heatmap (https://www.strava.com/heatmap). The heatmap is a graphical representation of Strava Metro data made by aggregated, public activities over the last two years. Activity marked as private by Strava Metro users is not visible. The heatmap is updated monthly and areas with very little activity may not be visible.
Strava Metro publishes a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document (https://metro.strava.com/faq/). To answer some common questions regarding their datasets.
