The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration presents Traffic Records Classroom, an online curriculum for use by State and local traffic safety professionals. This curriculum provides the basics, as well as an understanding of specific data components and technologies included in a comprehensive traffic records system such as, Crash, Roadway, Driver, Vehicle, Injury Control, Citation/Adjudication, Motor Carrier, Exposure, and Data Analysis.
Once registered, users are able to study at their own pace, complete interesting reading assignments that include links to applicable websites and articles, take rotating examinations on a wide variety of subjects, and track their assignments and scores. The Office of Injury Prevention (OIP) maintains a statewide Injury Surveillance Data System to:
•monitor the frequency of fatal and non-fatal injuries
•determine the risk factors for fatal and non-fatal injuries
•evaluate the completeness, timeliness, and quality of data sources
•provide information to Florida's injury prevention community for program
planning and evaluation
•provide a foundation for injury prevention strategies within the 2009-2013 Florida Injury Prevention Strategic Plan (pdf 3.44mb).
The data system is modeled after the Safe States Alliance (formerly the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association [STIPDA]) Consensus Recommendations for Injury Surveillance in State Health Departments.
Through the Florida Injury Surveillance Data System, the Office of Injury Prevention can access multiple data sources, including:
•Vital Records (Death Certificates)*
•Hospital Discharge Data*
•Emergency Department Discharge Data*
•Motor Vehicle Crash Records
•Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System
•Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System
•Child Death Review
•Uniform Crime Reporting System

The Safe and Mobile Seniors Web site is a virtual "one stop shop" for all transportation safety and mobility information for drivers and pedestrians 65 years and older living in Florida. Developed through the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) mature driver program "Safe Mobility for Life", this site provides Floridians information and resources on every aspect of transportation, in an effort to improve the safety, access and mobility of Florida's growing aging population.
